L'oro di Brumaio
This is the latest wine to come out from our cellars.
This wine comes from Trebbiano Toscano grapes that are
harvested when they are ovverripe (between October and November).
The grapes are then fermented for twenty days with all
the grape stalks.
After the fermentation, the juice is placed in barriques
for 9 months.
This wine is a full-bodied one, as only our best red
wines are; the alcohol content is over 13% and the wine has a golden color.
Its bouquet reminds of that of apricots in the first year, then it tends
to take on a pleasing fumè flavor.
It can be stored for four or five years, but it should
be drunk after the second year.
The name is a homage to French oenology, since the
late harvest is a practice used in France but rarely in Italy. It
is interesting to note that in the jacobin calender Brumaio was the
month that went from October 22 to November 21, exactly the period
in which the grapes are picked to make this charming wine.
We suggest to drink this wine with tuscan pecorino cheese
or patè de fois gras.
